Tanine Dugger / Social Worker

Tanine has been passionately serving the formerly incarcerated community of New York City since 2017. She has extensive experience working with disenfranchised communities and understands the needs of individuals who have faced the harms of the criminal legal system. Tanine received her Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree from Fordham University in 2019.

Prior to joining NSB in 2022, Tanine worked for three years as a Social Worker at the Center for Alternative to Incarceration and Employment Services (CASES) on a Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (F.A.C.T.) team serving individuals who were formerly incarcerated. F.A.C.T. teams are immersed in clients’ communities, meeting all their needs with a holistic, comprehensive, and team-based approach. Tanine excelled in supporting clients as an advocate in court proceedings, parole hearings, housing court and medical assessments. She also completed comprehensive assessments, provided care coordination, and educational and vocational/employment support. While pursuing her M.S.W. at Fordham University, Tanine was a Social Work Intern at the Riverside Church of New York. In this role, Tanine led recruitment efforts for the Coming Home Program, an innovative reentry program. She also developed information for reentry workshop meetings and worked directly on addressing the needs of elderly participants in the program.

Tanine works as a psychotherapist at the Nathaniel Behavioral Health Clinic. As a therapist, Tanine empowers Black and Brown community members in overcoming the hardships that poverty has dealt them. Tanine is dedicated to making sure that people who have come in contact with the criminal legal system and racism are treated with fairness and compassion.
