Len Kamdang / Senior Associate

Len is an experienced trial attorney who comes to NSB after spending over a decade as an Assistant Federal Defender in the Eastern District of New York. There, Len was a successful and zealous advocate for his clients, winning more trials during his tenure than any other attorney in the office. He served as lead counsel in over thirty jury trials and secured full acquittals against the government in numerous cases involving misconduct by federal, state, and local law enforcement. In addition, he served as lead counsel at all phases of litigation in serious felonies including terrorism cases, international narcotics trafficking, securities fraud litigation, and violent crimes. Len frequently briefed and argued complex issues in forensic science, pharmacology, and mental health issues.

Before joining the Federal Defenders of New York, Len worked as a staff attorney at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, again fighting tirelessly to defend indigent clients accused of serious violent felonies. He gained experience with civil rights litigation while working at the Housing and Civil Enforcement Section of the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice.

Len has taught Trial Advocacy and Professional Responsibility as an adjunct law professor at CUNY Law School and guest lectured at trial advocacy seminars at New York University School of Law and Columbia University Law School. He has also educated other litigators as a lecturer at numerous CLE trainings.
