Katie Haas / Cochran Fellow

Katie joined NSB as a Cochran Fellow in 2020. She comes to NSB from the ACLU of New Jersey (ACLU-NJ), where she spent two years as a law fellow. At the ACLU-NJ, she advocated against the use of solitary confinement in immigration detention and represented immigration detainees in emergency litigation seeking their immediate release due to COVID-19. She also represented the ACLU-NJ as amicus curiae in several cases before the New Jersey Supreme Court and Appellate Division on a range of criminal law reform and other civil rights issues. Katie graduated from Yale Law School, where she participated in the Worker and Immigrant Rights Advocacy Clinic, the Liman Project of the Arthur Liman Public Interest Program, and the International Refugee Assistance Project.
