Bettina K. Roberts / Staff Attorney
Bettina recently re-joined NSB as a staff attorney, having also spent six months with the firm in 2015. Previously, Bettina served as a Research & Writing Attorney in the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Eastern District of North Carolina and as a member of the Fourth Circuit CJA Panel. She also spent over a year as an associate at a white-collar defense firm in New York. She has experience with all phases of both civil and criminal litigation, has authored briefs and other filings on a wide variety of legal questions, and has successfully argued cases in both federal district and appellate courts.
While in law school, Bettina gained indigent criminal defense experience at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia and the California Appellate Project in San Francisco, and helped organize a training seminar for over 100 criminal defense lawyers in New Delhi, India, as part of an internship with Switzerland-based non-profit International Bridges to Justice. She also was a member of the Duke Law Wrongful Convictions clinic and a leader in the school’s public interest law community.
